Drying of biomass
Precision-controlled drying of different types of biomaterial using nationally unique technology. Used in R&D projects by SLU, members of Processum and external stakeholders.
The dryer pilot allows precision-controlled drying of e.g. bark, forest residues, needles and stumps, energy crops, agricultural by-products, recycled materials and industrial by-products.
Both moist and dry biomass, e.g. chips and industrial sludge, can be tested. Everything from one-off drying trials to projects that make use of the entire equipment chain, from drying to a finished product in the form of pellets or briquettes, can be carried out.
The pilot plant is located at the Biomass Technology Centre, Röbäcksdalen, Umeå.
The main parts of the facility are an air heater, belt dryer and cyclone dryer.
