The future of the digitalised steel and process industry (Industry 4.0)

Pilot halls for steel making are used as a test and demo environment for pilot trials of new methods for digitalisation and visualisation, as well as for newly developed measuring systems.

Offer

Swerim (formerly Swerea MEFOS) has one of Europe’s largest pilot environments for steel making and can experimentally perform most processes, from metallurgy to different types of heating and production processes up to the final product (plate, rod, slab). This environment is used to develop new systems and sensors for online measurements, data analyses and visualisations of measurement data, either as a cloud solution or from an internal database.

Combining data from the manufacturing processes (from mine to finished product) with the companies’ financial systems creates incentives to develop systems for optimising the resources for production of steel.

Digitalisation in the process industry is showing a strong trend.
